Today we welcome two more podcasts into the Alberta Podcast Network, powered by ATB!
PopCycle is the reincarnation of NewbsRadio, one of the best pop culture podcasts of all time. That's not hype — your correspondent has been a huge fan for years, and it's a thrill to know that more episodes are on their way after a two-year hiatus. The whole story of the podcast's birth and revival is worth a look.
Hosts Eric Newby and Christian Zyp take a piece of pop culture and make a map of connections through other pieces of pop culture until they find their way back to the original reference. It is smart and funny and endlessly creative. It's also a lot of work, so we'll have to wait until the end of August for the first new episode, but you can check out some of the best of the archive in the meantime.
The 2 and Out CFL Podcast is an exciting addition for a couple of reasons. First, it makes sense to up our football content with the Grey Cup being played in Edmonton this year. It's also our first podcast from outside of Edmonton and Calgary, as hosts Travis Currah and Ty Owchar (aka Brazilian Ty) are based in Red Deer. We're looking forward to some crossovers with Tight Ends, too!
Travis is a radio guy, so he's great on the mic. He and Ty have a ton of chemistry as they preview and recap every weekend of the CFL season, and chat about their fantasy football teams. The only drawback is that Travis is a Riders fan, but we know many of you suffer from this affliction, so we'll let it pass.
We've added quite a few podcasts recently, and the alphabetical listing of our shows on our home page was getting rather unwieldy. So we've reorganized it by topic to make it easier for you to find the podcast that suits your fancy.
It's a work in progress, but hopefully it's easier to use. We'll be making some changes to the weekly roundup in the coming weeks, too. If you have any feedback, please send it to hello@albertapodcastnetwork.com.
