You know that feeling you get when you hear an idea that’s so good, you can hardly believe it doesn’t exist already? That’s the feeling we had when Kyle Marshall started talking about Putting It Together, his latest podcast and the newest member of the Alberta Podcast Network, powered by ATB.
Putting It Together is a chronological look at the work of Stephen Sondheim, the great Broadway composer and lyricist. Each episode is an in-depth discussion of a song, starting at the beginning with West Side Story and continuing on through Gypsy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Assassins and so much more.
Kyle loves Sondheim, and he repeatedly went looking for the podcast that could scratch his itch. But he couldn’t find one. So he made it.
Sondheim-mania is strong at APN HQ, and we’re big fans of Kyle, too. He has two other podcasts in the network — Assumptions, an exploration of religion and friendship with Daniel Melvill Jones, and Creative Block, featuring conversations with artists and entrepreneurs at Media Lab YYC. It’s a thrill to complete the trifecta with Putting It Together.
The podcast launched last week with three fascinating episodes, and continues its journey through West Side Story this week with a discussion of “Maria.” (You may recognize the guest.) Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a note!
