We were thrilled to see a number of the Alberta Podcast Network’s shows receive nominations for this year’s Canadian Podcast Awards. We know how hard they work, so it’s lovely to see them get some recognition.
We’d also like to salute Podcamp Toronto for putting this together, and shining a light on all of the great work that Canadian podcasters are doing. We are easily lost in the shadow of the American podcasting scene, but we know Canadians want and need to hear local voices, and this awards program helps make sure that happens.
Speaking of voices, you can make yours heard in this year’s awards. Voting is open until Feb. 18. We’d like to highlight the categories in which our shows are nominated.
People’s Choice
Anyone can vote for the People’s Choice, regardless of whether you have a podcast. The nominees are the top nominated podcasts across all categories. We’re thrilled to see two of our shows among the nominees:
Emily Missed Out — Breanne catches her friend Emily up on the movies she missed in her youth, so that she can catch pop-culture references that she’d otherwise miss.
Modern Manhood — German Villegas explores the many facets of masculinity in the modern world, through interviews and informed commentary on what it means to be a man.
Also nominated in this category are BGM: Bad Gay Movies = Bitchy Gay Men, Break a Wish, Killed to Death with Griffin and Steve, Live from The Centre, On a Dark Cold Night, The Bed Post Podcast, The Villain Was Right, and Truths Be Told.
Only verified Canadian podcasters can vote in the other 29 categories. It’s easy to get verified, and once you do, your podcast will be listed in the Canadian Podcast Directory, which could help people discover your show.
