Fall is nearly officially here, and with that we've got news of a project we've been working on: It's YEGPodfest!
The festival celebrates podcasting in Alberta and beyond, with many of your Alberta Podcast Network pals contributing to panels and feature events.
The online festival happens Oct. 1 to 3, and the schedule is now live.
The festival headliner is Jad Abumrad of Dolly Parton's America and Radiolab fame. He'll give a talk on storytelling strategies and podcasting experiences, followed by an interview with author and journalist Omar Mouallem.
Other feature presentations include such CBC Podcasts as The Secret Life of Canada, Tony Ho, and Seat at the Table, and a conversation with Oumar Salifou and Hannan Mohamud of Is This For Real?
Among the sessions featuring APN podcasters are:
A social justice panel with German Villegas of Modern Manhood;
Bollywood is For Lovers hosts a globe-trotting conversation about Indian cinema;
Podcasters from Hockey Feels, Loyal Company of the River Valley, and The 4th Line discuss covering sports during the pandemic;
The Well Endowed Podcast hosts a chat on the lives of millennials with Speaking Municipally's Mack Male and Linda Hoang of Don't Call Me A Guru;
Kyle Marshall of Creative Block and Karen Unland of That's a Thing?! will help you sell a podcast to your boss.
YEGPodfest is a collaboration of LitFest and the Alberta Podcast Network, presented by the Edmonton Community Foundation and funded in part by the Edmonton Arts Council.
All events are free, with donations gratefully accepted, but you'll have to register to get the access link.
