We like them apples — The week on APN — Sept. 4-10

Apples are falling, the market bounty is fruitful, and we're doing our best to avoid stewing on the political pedantry on TV. Instead, we're bingeing on bake-off shows and getting set to make a nice, therapeutic pie.

Poet Jane Kenyon said that to build a pie is like "a bulwark against autumn entropy," and so APN's pastry chefs have whipped up a fresh batch of playlists to help knead out the shoulder knots from that first week back at the office.

The “subscribe” button on any of the Listen Notes playlists will let you grab a playlist for your podcatcher. Sample the shows below, or check out the full week’s roundup on Spotify.

SPORTS

Armchair Sports looks back at the first season for the Sylvan Lake Gulls in the Western Canadian Baseball League with the team’s president of baseball operations, Aqil Samuel. Get Checkered recaps the Dutch Grand Prix and Verstappen’s predictable victory at the newly revived Zandvoort Circuit. Loyal Company of the River Valley discusses FC Edmonton’s recent town hall meeting, plus a busy week of matches with other western Canadian teams. Ty and Currah give a primer for Week 6 of the CFL season, and cover the results from the Labour Day weekend on 2 and Out CFL Podcast. And finally, The Turf District gets to celebrate a Labour Day win for the Elks.

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT
